I am naturally not a go-getter type of person. Some people are naturally driven, motivated, and persevere through any trial and circumstance. Not me. Naturally, I want to take the easy road, stay comfortable, and quit when it gets hard- can anyone relate?
When things get boring, hard, or quiet, there are moments within myself where I feel like God has forgotten about me. I know He hasn’t because His word says, “He will never leave us nor forsake us”, but our emotions are cruel, and they can play some mean tricks on us. When this happens, I am thankful for the truth in God’s word. That no matter how I may feel or what may (or may not) be happening in life, He is still good, He sees me, and He has a plan.
Philippians 1:6 says, “I am convinced and confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will [continue to] perfect and complete it until the day of Christ Jesus [the time of His return].”
When Jesus called you out, He set a plan in motion to redeem, restore, and transform your entire life. He also put plans in place to use you for His glory- to be a part of His mission in reconciling the world back to His heart. If you are struggling today, wondering if God sees you or hears you- please take heart- He has NOT forgotten about you. Keep seeking Him with your whole heart. His plans will be laid out for you in the perfect way and time.
Psalm 34:7 says, "Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart."
Maybe there are some desires on your heart that you feel as though just aren’t going to happen.
Let me say just a couple things to that:
1. Whatever you want to see come to pass in your life, give it all to God. He has a plan that goes far beyond our own understanding. Time and time again I have learned that Gods thoughts are most definitely not our thoughts. His was are MOST definitely higher than ours. And He ALWAYS surpasses our expectations. If you have found yourself frustrated with God or life, just surrender. Let go of your time table. Surrender and seek after Jesus and be cool with whatever He wants to do in your life.
2. This verse reminds us to delight in the Lord. Do that- every day all day. Take delight in Him because He is good and His love for you goes beyond measure. “Delight” in Psalm 37:4 actually means “to be soft or pliable”.
When I first read this, it totally threw me off. But then I dug a little deeper:
‘Pliable’ means to be easily bent or flexible.
So look at it this way: when our hearts are soft, flexible, easily bendable in the hands of God, we are becoming the people He wants us to be. When we become who He wants us to be, He gives us His desires, and those desires will come to pass.
Isaiah 64:8 says, “But now, O LORD, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand.”
When we put our heart in His hands, He will take it and do what’s best for it. He will shape and mold us into the person He wants us to be, walking in freedom and fulfilling His plans for our life.
Today, if you want to give up, my best advice is this: Don’t. God has a plan for your life. You may not see it right now, but trust in Him and His process. Seek Him with your WHOLE heart and you will find Him. Follow His leading. Do the hard stuff that you don’t want to do. Let Him into your heart fully so He can heal you fully. When you want to give up, cry out to Him- His Spirit within you as a child of God will give you the strength you need in your weakest times. Stand firm and stay the course because He wants to use you to reach this world and to be a part of His mission of changing lives.
He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion.
God bless you,
